FOR EXAMPLE: SAMANTHA SEALY
Love these almost cold, melancholic photographs that suggest memories of a short space of time that are slowly burning away, revealing a glimpse at another time gone by.
Samantha is an all analogue and experimental photographer, recently receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of Connecticut.
FOR EXAMPLE: FERNANDO RAMIREZ
Inspired by Saturday morning cartoons and the history of figurative painting - Fernando’s work collapses personal, cultural, and art historical themes into pictorial narratives, illustrating the moments that occur between the fantastical daydream and the mundane rituals of life. Articulated by vivid tableaus and reoccurring characters, each image and piece is a fragment of an all encompassing narrative universe in which the viewer must enact as an anthropologist and historian. In deciphering the origins and customs of this two dimensional other-world, there is a parallel between the represented fictional space and our own reality where avatars and the absurd create a grand narrative of everything and nothing at all. He currently lives in Houston, Texas, and is a practicing artist searching for representation.
FOR EXAMPLE: ETTORE MONI
Absolutely love these photographs taken from the series ‘Case Sospese’ (translation ‘Hanging Houses’) by the Italian artist. Taken along the banks of the river Po, these constructions are just begging to be explored, and to meet their occupants. Such an intriguing study!
FOR EXAMPLE: KARLI HENNEMAN
Love these paintings by the American artist, portraying the darker side of popular culture.
'This body of work embodies conceptual ideas of self-perception and identity. I pull images from popular culture, and fashion magazines, and vintage images from LIFE loaded with strong emotional content. By deconstructing faces, I intend to create a shell for the viewers to find themselves in my work. The mixed media collages are created on top of vibrant abstract paintings. The vibration of text, colors, paint, textures, and deconstructed images provide a stimulating visual journey.'
FOR EXAMPLE: LISA KRANNICHFELD
Beautiful water colour paintings by the Arkansas based artist. Love the fluid, organic paint marks washed into place by the water, but yet they display such precise expressions within the subjects faces, and pose. Half expect eyes to open and faces to lift on the paper!
FOR EXAMPLE: JENNY BROWN
Loving the exotic and contrived ‘blossoming creatures’ collages, the second series of Jenny’s work that we have featured on ‘For Example’. Great Stuff!
FOR EXAMPLE: PETRA LEA
